Summer School

I just had a wonderful time at the Distant Stitch Summer School at Urchfont Manor in Wiltshire. Great to meet Sian and the fellow students at last - a really friendly bunch! Ruth Issett was a fantastic tutor and I learnt so much about rolling and printing!

Commercial Patterned Fabrics

Shibori - Tie-dye

Stone, rubber bands.
Colourcraft Procion dye on pre-soda-soaked cotton fabric.

Angel Fish, Tortoise, Cormorant

Stones, buttons, rubber bands.
Colourcraft pre-soda-soaked cotton fabric

Angel Fish, Tortoise, Nile Monitor Lizard

Shibori - folded

Pre-soda-soaked fabric - folded towards centre 3 times
Colourcraft Procion dye

Angel fish

Concertina folded - twisted and held with large paper clips and bulldog clips.

Cormorant

Shibori - Tie-dye

Spider's Web - wound with string

Sea Stars

Shibori - Tritik - soda-soaked fabric, straight machine stitched, thickened Procion dye

Dye applied to dry fabric - left 4 hours

Giraffe, Zebra

Dye applied to wet fabric - left 4 hours

Giraffe, Jaguar

Stitched in wavy lines - left overnight

Giraffe, Zebra

Shibori - Tritik - soda-soaked fabric, hand sewn - thickened Procion Dye

Waxed cotton thread sewn in a pattern.
Left overnight

Giraffe

Sewn in concentric rings with waxed viscose thread.
Left overnight

Sewn in 7 spirals with waxed viscose thread.
